It is free, it takes minutes, the mechanism is uncontroversial and the trials are unusually consistent. The interesting wrinkle is that the thing doing you the most good here is close to invisible in your own data.

Why it works, which is the unglamorous part

That is a limitation of what the dashboard measures, not a verdict on the habit. Attach it to something that already happens rather than to an intention. After the evening meal, before sitting down, one lap. The habit fails in two predictable ways: skipping it because ten minutes feels too small to matter, and inflating it into a proper walk that then competes with everything else in the evening. Both are avoidable once you know the dose that was actually tested.
