Most health apps quietly ship your most personal data to their servers to “analyse” it. Vitra was built the other way round: your health data lives on your machine, and the analysis comes to it — never the reverse.
When Vitra reads your Oura data, it stores it in a local database on your Mac or PC. Your sleep, HRV, heart rate and everything else stay there. There's no account to create and no health profile sitting on a company server waiting to be breached, sold, or subpoenaed.
Vitra's insights come from a research-backed rule set, rolling 60–180-day baselines, and a correlation engine — all running on your device. Nothing about your body is ever sent to a remote AI to generate a sentence. Plain-language reads, computed locally, with the studies cited on the methodology page.
On-device isn't only about privacy — it's why the app keeps working offline, and why every insight is measured against your baseline rather than a generic average. Your data never leaves, so it can be used fully: your normal range, your trends, your patterns.
To sell a licence we keep the bare minimum on our server: your licence email and, for trials, an email and IP. That's it — no health data, ever. A one-click erasure request removes what little we hold, and the privacy policy states plainly what is and isn't stored.
If you choose to share with a coach through Vitra Coach, that channel is end-to-end encrypted — sealed to the coach's key on your device, so our server only ever sees ciphertext. You decide exactly which metrics flow, and you can stop any time.
Vitra is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. No recurring bill, no incentive to hoard your data to keep you paying — you buy the app and own it, and your data stays yours.
This is general educational information, not medical advice.
