Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Vitra, a desktop application that reads your Oura Ring data and analyses it locally on your computer. By installing or using Vitra you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not install or use the app.

1. The app, in plain terms

Vitra connects to your Oura account, downloads your own ring data, and runs an on-device AI to surface readings, trends, and suggestions. It runs on macOS and Windows. It is provided as a downloadable application; we do not run a hosted user service.

2. Beta status

Vitra is currently in beta. Features can change, break, or disappear. The app is offered free of charge during beta. When the app reaches 1.0, a one-time licence may be introduced for new users; users who installed during beta will be notified before any change applies to them.

3. Your account, your ring, your data

You need an active Oura account and a compatible Oura Ring (Gen 3 or Gen 4) to use Vitra meaningfully. Your relationship with Oura — including subscription status — is between you and Ōura Health Oy. We are not a party to it.

Vitra reads only the data you authorise via Oura's OAuth flow, and stores it locally on your computer. You can revoke Vitra's access at any time from Oura's connected-applications page.

4. Not medical advice

Vitra is not a medical device. The readings, scores, and AI-generated suggestions it shows are for informational and self-knowledge purposes only. They are not a diagnosis, prescription, or substitute for professional medical advice. If you have a health concern, consult a qualified clinician. Do not rely on Vitra to detect, prevent, or treat any disease or condition.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the on-device AI model weights for redistribution.
  • Use the app to access another person's Oura data without their explicit consent.
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or its components.
  • Use the app in any way that violates Oura's API terms.

6. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Vitra on devices you own or control. The app's source code, model weights, design, and assets remain the property of the Vitra developer.

Open-source components bundled with Vitra are governed by their respective licences; the full notices are available from within the app under About → Acknowledgements.

7. Updates

Vitra checks for updates periodically and may prompt you to install them. Major updates can change behaviour or remove features. You can disable automatic update checks in settings, but running an outdated build at your own risk is your responsibility, especially if Oura's API contract changes.

8. Third-party services

Vitra depends on Oura's API to function. If that API becomes unavailable, changes terms, or revokes Vitra's developer access, parts of the app will stop working. We are not liable for outages or behaviour of third-party services we integrate with.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Vitra is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any insight it produces is correct.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Vitra developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use or inability to use the app — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total cumulative liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months preceding the claim, which during beta is zero.

11. Termination

You can stop using Vitra at any time by uninstalling it. We may discontinue the app, or terminate your licence if you breach these terms. On termination, you must remove all copies of the app from your devices. Sections 4, 9, 10, and 13 survive termination.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version is always at this URL with an updated date at the top. Material changes will be surfaced inside the app on next launch. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Disputes that cannot be resolved by email will be heard exclusively in the courts of Lisbon.
