Compra un anillo inteligente si lo que te importa es el sueño y la recuperación: es el único formato que la mayoría de la gente mantiene puesto toda la noche. Compra un reloj deportivo si necesitas GPS integrado y ECG. Si quieres evitar suscripciones, la lista corta es Polar, Garmin, Samsung, Ultrahuman y Withings; Whoop no vende ningún dispositivo fuera de una membresía anual, y Oura exige Membresía en los anillos Gen3 y posteriores. Una regla atraviesa toda la página: si un fabricante no publica un dato, la celda dice «Not stated» (no indicado). Aquí nada está estimado, deducido de un modelo parecido ni copiado de una reseña. Una tabla visiblemente incompleta es honesta; una tabla equivocada con aplomo acaba citada y se propaga. Las celdas vacías son en sí mismas un hallazgo: varios fabricantes siguen sin publicar un peso, y algunos nunca nombran una métrica que se esperaría de un dispositivo de su categoría.
El dispositivo lo mide, la app lo muestra y la API lo expone son tres cosas distintas. Un wearable puede llevar sensor de SpO2 y aun así medir solo a demanda: el manual de Polar dice que el Vantage V3 mide la SpO2 «whenever you want in just 45 seconds», mientras que Oura dice que solo mide mientras duermes. Garmin te deja elegir: todo el día, durante el sueño, o manual. Un dispositivo también puede calcular una métrica que su plan más barato esconde: el oxígeno en sangre, la temperatura cutánea y la frecuencia respiratoria de Whoop viven en Health Monitor, al que los miembros de WHOOP One no tienen acceso. Oura Readiness, Whoop Recovery, Polar Nightly Recharge, Garmin Body Battery y Samsung Energy Score son constructos distintos en escalas distintas, hechos con entradas distintas muestreadas en momentos distintos. Un 70 en una no es un 70 en otra, y promediar entre dispositivos produce un número que no significa nada. Garmin dice claramente que Body Battery se construye con variabilidad de la frecuencia cardíaca, nivel de estrés, calidad del sueño y actividad, en una escala de 5 a 100, y se mueve a lo largo del día: un indicador de combustible en vivo. La Recovery de Whoop se ancla en una única lectura nocturna de VFC tomada durante el sueño profundo. Responden a preguntas distintas. Compara cada puntuación solo con su propio historial.
La columna del momento de la VFC es donde esto se ve más claro. Oura muestrea solo durante el sueño. Whoop toma su lectura durante el sueño de ondas lentas. Garmin mide entre latidos mientras duermes y necesita siete noches antes de mostrar una media de siete días. El Apple Watch hace algo distinto por completo: su propio informe sobre frecuencia cardíaca describe un algoritmo en segundo plano que vigila el pulso durante el día y reporta una lectura aproximadamente cada cinco minutos siempre que estés quieto, expresada como SDNN. Cuatro dispositivos, cuatro definiciones distintas de «tu VFC».
Un medidor de sueño vale lo que valga tu disposición a llevarlo en la cama, y por eso ganan los anillos en comodidad: el Oura Ring 5 parte de 2 g y el Ultrahuman Ring PRO de 3,3 g, frente a unos 26,5 g de una banda Whoop y 30,3 g del Apple Watch más pequeño. La batería importa igual, porque un dispositivo que cargas de noche es un dispositivo que pierde noches. El Apple Watch Series 11 declara hasta 24 horas de uso normal; todos los demás declaran una semana o más, y el Withings ScanWatch 2 declara 35 días.
En lo que registran de verdad de noche, cuatro destacan. Oura mide la SpO2 mientras duermes, necesita un periodo de sueño de más de tres horas e informa del oxígeno en sangre medio de la noche. Withings hace seguimiento de temperatura 24/7 junto con VFC nocturna y un índice de calidad respiratoria. El CIRQA y el Venu 4 de Garmin permiten poner el Pulse Ox en «During Sleep» para lecturas continuas durante la noche. El Galaxy Ring de Samsung mide frecuencia cardíaca, oxígeno en sangre y temperatura cutánea mientras duermes. Whoop también informa de oxígeno en sangre, temperatura cutánea y frecuencia respiratoria, pero solo en los planes Peak y Life, ya que Whoop afirma que los miembros de WHOOP One no tienen Health Monitor.
Si la VFC es el número que te importa, la pregunta no es quién la mide —casi todo aquí lo hace— sino *cuándo*. Oura afirma que mide la VFC solo durante el sueño, toma muestras de cinco minutos a lo largo de la noche y muestra la media de esas muestras. Whoop registra la VFC de forma pasiva durante el sueño y toma la lectura que alimenta Recovery durante el sueño de ondas lentas. Garmin mide el tiempo entre latidos mientras duermes y necesita siete noches antes de mostrar una media de siete días, y unas tres semanas antes de compararla con tu línea base. Polar toma la VFC cada noche para Nightly Recharge, tanto en el Loop como en el Vantage V3.
El Apple Watch es la excepción: el propio informe de Apple sobre frecuencia cardíaca describe un algoritmo en segundo plano que vigila el pulso durante el día y reporta una lectura cada cinco minutos aproximadamente siempre que estés quieto, publicada como SDNN. Es un estadístico distinto muestreado en un momento distinto, así que un número de VFC de Apple no es comparable con uno nocturno. Samsung es el hueco: la VFC no aparece nombrada ni en la página de producto del Galaxy Ring, ni en su página de compra, ni en ninguno de sus artículos de soporte.
Para sacar esa VFC de la app del fabricante y llevarla a tu propio análisis, Polar y Withings son los más fáciles: ambos tienen API públicas en las que puedes registrarte directamente. La API de Oura está abierta a cualquier titular de cuenta, pero necesita Membresía activa en los anillos Gen3 y posteriores. Qué se considera una buena VFC es otra pregunta; la respuesta corta es que solo significa algo frente a tu propia línea base.
La diferencia más clara es comercial, no técnica. Oura te vende un anillo —429 € en plata o negro en su tienda europea— y luego cobra 69,99 € al año de Membresía en los anillos Gen3 y posteriores, lo que suma 568,98 € en dos años. Whoop no vende ningún dispositivo por separado: WHOOP One cuesta 199 € al año y WHOOP Peak 264 € al año en la tienda europea, cada uno con un WHOOP 5.0 incluido, así que dos años salen por 398 € o 528 € con el hardware dentro. Técnicamente, el anillo pesa 2 g y la banda unos 26,5 g; ninguno tiene GPS. Si quieres ECG necesitas el WHOOP MG con la membresía Life de 399 € al año, porque Whoop dice sin rodeos que el WHOOP 5.0 no lo incluye. Ninguno de los tres anillos de aquí —Oura Ring 5, Samsung Galaxy Ring, Ultrahuman Ring PRO— tiene GPS ni ECG. Los tres declaran una semana o más de batería y pesan menos de diez gramos. Los relojes lo invierten: el Apple Watch Series 11 añade ECG, detección de caídas, GPS integrado y avisos de apnea del sueño, pero declara hasta 24 horas de uso normal, lo que implica cargarlo alrededor de tu ventana de sueño. El Withings ScanWatch 2 es el raro del grupo: un reloj híbrido con ECG y temperatura 24/7 que declara 35 días.
Garmin es quien más lo dice. La CIRQA Smart Band se vende con el lema «Track all day. Look later. No subscription required.», y Garmin afirma que sus datos se sincronizan con la app Garmin Connect sin coste adicional, con Connect+ (6,99 $ al mes o 69,99 $ al año) estrictamente opcional. Polar lo pone por escrito igual: «No monthly fees. No locked features. Full access to every feature from day one.» En el otro extremo, Whoop no tiene ninguna vía sin suscripción, y la Membresía de Oura es lo que desbloquea el acceso a la API en los anillos Gen3 y posteriores, así que si piensas usar tus propios datos fuera de la app de Oura, la Membresía no es opcional.
La VFC (variabilidad de la frecuencia cardíaca) es la variación en el tiempo entre latidos consecutivos, medida en milisegundos. No es una puntuación de forma física; es una lectura aproximada del equilibrio del sistema nervioso autónomo, y solo tiene sentido frente a tu propia línea base. Cada fabricante la calcula de forma distinta —Apple publica SDNN, la desviación estándar entre latidos normales— y cada uno la muestrea en momentos distintos, que es por lo que dos dispositivos llevados la misma noche pueden discrepar.
Una puntuación de readiness o recuperación es una mezcla propietaria de señales nocturnas —normalmente VFC, frecuencia cardíaca en reposo, sueño y actividad reciente— comprimida en un solo número, casi siempre de 0 a 100. No hay definición de industria ni escala compartida. La SpO2 es la saturación de oxígeno en sangre, estimada ópticamente. La temperatura cutánea suele reportarse como desviación respecto a tus propias noches recientes, no como lectura absoluta. GPS conectado significa que el dispositivo no tiene chip GPS y toma prestado el de tu móvil.
Vitra es una app de escritorio que lee los datos de tu anillo y te los explica. La última fila de la tabla de arriba tiene exactamente tres estados. Sí: Oura, leído a través de la API pública de Oura, y esa es toda la lista soportada hoy. En desarrollo: Polar, cuyo soporte está escrito pero sigue detrás de un interruptor apagado; más Ultrahuman y Withings, ambos en la lista de trabajo porque cada uno tiene una API a la que un tercero puede llegar de verdad. Ninguno de los tres es usable todavía, y ninguno se ofrece. No: todo lo demás, con el motivo real escrito en la celda en lugar de un vago «próximamente». Nada está en «en desarrollo» si no está realmente en la lista de trabajo.
Dos de estos dispositivos no pueden soportarse desde una app de escritorio, y vale la pena decir por qué en vez de dejarlo vago. Apple Health entrega los datos a apps que corren en el propio iPhone o Apple Watch del usuario; Apple afirma que no hay ninguna vía por la que la propia Apple obtenga acceso, y no existe API de servidor a la que una app de escritorio pueda llamar. Samsung Health se lee mediante un SDK de Android en el dispositivo, sin API pública en la nube. La vía de nube de Google, la Google Health API, pone cada permiso detrás de una revisión de privacidad y seguridad. Son hechos comprobables, no excusas, pero también son la razón por la que una app de Mac o Windows no va a leer tu Apple Watch a corto plazo.
